The official taking over ceremony for Craiova – Filiasi section (35,19 km long) on National Road no. 6

Tomorrow,  22 December 2006, will take place the official taking over ceremony of the rehabilitation works for 35,19 km of National Road no.6, Craiova – Filiasi section. This event will start at 1030 o’clock, at „Hanul Doctorului”, the acces in Craiova from Slatina City – the crossing of  65 National Road with Craiova North  road belt (~km. 6+300). This ceremony will take place in the presence of Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism, Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads S.A., Ministry of Public Finance – ISPA National Coordinator and EC Delegation in Romania representatives.
The European Commission, through ISPA Facility, has offered its support by granting non-reimbursable financial assistance of 30,352,882.95 euro for the rehabilitation of the National Road no. 6, section Craiova –Filiasi, between km 233+200 – km 268+390, in order to align the traffic road conditions to the international standards. Romanian Government contribution from the state budget, in order to achieve this project,  is 10,117,627.65 euro.
The Contract, financed by 2000/RO/16/P/PT/004 ISPA Measure “Rehabilitation of the DN 6 road, Craiova – Drobeta Turnu Severin section, km 233+200 -  km 332+150,”  is the first phase of the project Craiova – Lugoj, being located on the Pan European Corridor IV and representing a part of the European roads network (E70), as principal road.
The European Commission has significantly contributed to fulfilling the main objectives of the mentioned Works Contract, by its financing and support, having as result the following:

  • removing bottlenecks;
  • reducing the number of car accidents and improving the traffic safety conditions, especially through localities;
  • increasing average speed up to 80 km/ h;
  • modernising the existing road, in order to align it to the international standards;
  • improving the traffic flow.

On 14th of April 2003, the Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Road has awarded, based on the international opening tender, the Works Contract for “Rehabilitation of the DN 6 road section Craiova – Drobeta Turnu Severin, km 233+200 -  km 268+390 (section Craiova - Filiasi)” to the Contractor Itinera S.p.a (former J.V. Grassetto Lavori S.p.a.& Itinera). The Works Contract, having a total value of 40,470,510.60 Euro, is financed with 75% by the European Commission, through ISPA Facility, the difference of 25% representing the contribution of Romanian Government through the state budget.

Romania will have a General Transport Master Plan

Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism signed a new contract financed under the ISPA Facility for the elaboration of a General Transport Master Plan for the period 2007-2025
The Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism is launching the preparation of the General Transport Master Plan which is a strategic document for a long perspective 2007 – 2025 and represents the basis of all future planning activities in the transport sector.
The Master Plan will ensure a balanced distribution between the transport modes and will refer both to the development and adjustment of infrastructure capacity to the European quality standards as well as to the improvement of transport services and all other regulating and institutional aspects considered relevant for this sector.
The final objective for drafting this Master Plan is to have medium and long term conceptual validity and to serve as a stable reference for the process of national infrastructure development.
With a total value of 2,502,800 €, this Technical Assistance contract has been awarded through an international tender procedure to the French company LOUIS BERGER SAS and it has the implementation period of 16 months after the date of signing.
The contract is 85% financed by the European Commission under the ISPA Facility, and the cofinancing of the remaining 15% is supported from the state budget by the Romanian Government.
The final beneficiary is the Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism.

The official taking over ceremony for 17 km of the Bucharest – Constanta Motorway

Tomorrow,14th December 2006, will take place the official taking over ceremony of the rehabilitation works for 17 km of the Bucharest - Constanta Motorway, section Fetesti - Cernavoda. This event will start at 12 a.m., at Fetesti crossing (the limit of the 4thSector of the motorway- the 133+869 km Crossover), in the presence of the Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism, Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads S.A. and also Ministry of Public Finance - National ISPA Coordinator, EC Delegation in Romania representatives.
The European Commission, through ISPA facility, has offered its support by granting financial assistance of 26.410.608,46 Euro for the rehabilitation of the Bucharest – Constanta Motorway, section Fetesti - Cernavoda, in order to improve the traffic conditions through aligning them to the international standards. These works will considerably improve the traffic conditions on the North-South, Trans-European Motorway and Pan-European Corridor IV that crosses Romania, from west to east, via Nadlac-Timisoara-Lugoj-Deva-Sibiu-Pitesti-Bucharest-Cernavoda-Constanta. Romanian Government contribution from the state budget in order to achieve this project is  13.538.145,03 Euro.

On 9th of December 2003, the Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads (former National Administration of Roads) has awarded the Works Contract “Rehabilitation of the Section 5 of Bucharest – Constanta Motorway, Fetesti – Cernavoda, km 133+900 – km 151+480” to the Max Bogl – Astaldi – CCCF Consortium.
In order to facilitate the acces to the Black Sea Side as well as in view of our country accession to the EU, during 2005 the Romanian Government has requested the contractors to accelerate the works progress, in order to open the traffic on Section 5, between Fetesti and Cernavoda, on 30th of July 2006 on both ways, finish the Cernavoda Interchange in September 2006 and the Tolling Station Works in Defect Notification Period.
